Very romantic and beautiful, just the way the piece should be played. It is also a very sad one and Heifetz truly does make the violin cry when it has to. That is why I love him so much.

i love the way these critics come out and try to spoil everything, "hes really from here" "he playing too soft" when you make criticism please state your position in the music world..... ie how many pieces of work you have composed and how many concerts you have played in etc...oh and be sure to leave a link to your website so we can see/hear you playing with your virtuosity

Or, just let people have opinions about art. The opinions may not mean anything but to suggest people shut up or "prove their credentials" is borderline fascist. People on this page and any other page get to say their opinions or argue with others' opinions so if you want to silence opinion or restrict opinion only to professionals, you can start with your own self. Or should I ask what YOUR website and concert history are before allowing you to make more comments on my page?

I like you Aimson, but borderline fascist is pretty harsh. It distracts from what we all want...to listen to beautiful music since it doesn't get played on the radio, or tv, or the movies...

heifetz' performance of the 2nd movement of the Tchaikovsky, the piece this was originally intended to be, is enough to silence a universe of critics. i've personally never found its equal in nuance, artistry, and execution

    Thank you for the upload!

Perhaps it is harsh. I don't remember the context. However, I do recall George Carlin's famous line, "Opinions are like assholes, everybody's got them and they all stink." Sure, some stink more or less than others, but always do to some degree. I have the right to formulate and dispense my opinion the way I want to but understand that I am not always right. I often adjust or fine tune my opinion until it is refined and perhaps that could be useful right now, if I weren't so lazy.

It's not really machine-like. It's rather a style of nobleness, methinks. He may not be as expressive as other musicians. But his style of reserved and restrained passion is wonderful too.

I'm not sure what you mean by "not as expressive as other musicians." If you are confusing personal affect with expression like most ignorant music listeners, I understand - Heifetz was plagued with reviews of "coldness" since his debut. I found Elman, Milstein, and Oistrakh "cold" in exactly the same sense in that they don't wear their expressiveness on the outside. On the contrary, I think Heifetz is emotionally the most expressive and versatile musician I have ever felt.

Beacause, I am drinking vodka. I think when I listen Serenade Melancolique, I am fliying and I am coming back my past, memories. I am a Melancolique and I am accused of being Melancolique by people.

I think you are absolutely right. Even Perlman said that Heifetz is the most passionate violinist. And also he added that he is the only violinist he can never imitate.
