The tune "The Gold Ring" is a seven-part jig, possibly composed as a competition piece, as it exploits different styles and techniques. This variety is apparent in the different musical patterns, changing as the piece progresses. As the tune is repeated, I have used two visual environments from the same area (the beach at the end of the golf course in Ballybunion) for the visual accompaniment. Both, the remains of a pier and of a breakwater, provide circular and linear patterns which reflect the changing patterns in the tune.
