  • Hi JoyRider50 - as I mentioned in one of the comments awhile back, this was my first attempt at a handheld video, and I really didn't think it would work inside because it's a bit dark in there. In hindsight, it probably would have been fine, so I wish I'd known better at the time.

  • Hi nickwalco - Baby Grace wasn't born yet during the time the Ingalls lived near Independence. Thanks for watching!

  • Hi bluzdawg,

Actually, I did go inside, but didn't shoot video because it was really dark. I'd just started playing with a video camera at the time, and I didn't think it would be able to show anything in such low light.

There's not much in the one room; fireplace, table & chairs, a couple of beds and a storage trunk. Not the original Ingalls items, but representative of the times.

  • in the book #3 pa points east and says that's the verdigris river. that would be imposible. the river is on the other side of independance ks.too far to be seen from the little house.

  • We lived not far from Laura and Almonzo's house in Mansfield, Missouri when I was a kid and went there many times (which was pretty cool). It, too, was very small (the staircase leading upstairs, as I remember it, was very narrow and the ceiling was low and you would always wondered how they could feel comfortable in such a small house.

  • Where was the grocries shop belong to Mrs & Mrs.Anderson?

  • Just about a 20 minute ride outside Nashville Tn. is a city called Murfreesboro and "The Boro " has a replica of a small town much like the one you see in the LHOTP TV Series . It's free and you can't walk into the cabins but you can stand in the doorway (fireplace smell " and go into the one room church/school. The church also rents out for weddings. Don't mean to advertise but just thought that some of u little house fans might enjoy Cannonsburgh . I used to live there and visited often .

  • of course the land is still very much like it was back then, except for maybe more trees, but the land would still be the same.

  • My Grandma and grandpa got married there! LOL

  • Why didn't you video tape the inside of those buildings? I would have liked to see the inside of the school and especially the house.

  • @ctw1966 I loved the books! :)

  • @SheilaScarborough Baby Carrie was born though.
