I believe you mean 2mm of xmax, secondly, staying within the operating range (within xmax range) will keep the distortion down but a stronger magnet will reduce distortions within the xmax. Outside the xmax, distortion will go crazy and just be a flapper. Keeping the xmax lower within the xmax does not lower distortion - simply means the speaker call play the volume with out straining.

That sub looks insane! I want one :P

all you idiots would not recognize the term "pure bass" unless you feel your balls being jammed up your bunghole. Pure bass is about linear response (something you will never hear in a high SPL driver) and under-control air motion. All together, pure bass is not about massive amounts of air being pumped around, its about hearing every frequency as equal...I heard all the frequencies...from 10 feet away!!!

I have cranked it up on more than one occasion. Surprisingly, as loud has gets I get very little rattling. Probably due to the fact we heavily insulated the walls along with the acoustical ceiling keeping things under control.

Thanks. My turntable is a Luxmen P-99. It dates back to probably to the mid 80's. But the build quality is superb and it sounds every bit as good as a any CD player.
