In Another Life Ep. 1

Teacher: Please settle down class, I know its your first day of kindergarten but you need to relax. We have a new student from Tennessee, please welcome Miley Cyrus.
Miley: [walks in shyly]
Joe: [sitting in the back, smiling]
Miley: [smiles back]
Teacher: Please take a seat
Miley: [walks to the back of the room and sits alone]
Joe: [whispers to Nick] We should be her friend
Nick: [not looking at Joe] No way, shes a girl
Joe: Who cares, she looks lonely
Nick: whatever [goes back to drawing his dinosaur]
Joe: [turns around and smiles at Miley]
Miley: [smiles back]
FLASH (a/n Joe is now twenty)
Joe: [wakes up, sweating and breathing hard]
Ashley: Baby are you okay?
Joe: Yeah, just a night mare
Ashley: Want to talk about it?
Joe: No, just go back to bed
Ashley: All right [lays down]
Joe: [walks downstairs and into the closet to get a box]
Joes POV
I opened up the box and sat on the cold hallway floorboards. Inside were photo graphs of all my friends, my old baseball jersey, some free swim passes to the swim club in my neighborhood, also a bus ticket. I lived in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Miley and Nick were my best friends and wed hang out all the time. As we got older, I started dating and Miley did also. But I always compared my girlfriend to her and none of them were better.
I still remember her smile and the way her eyes sparkled in the sun. At the junior prom we went into the party as friends but came out girlfriend and boyfriend. After dating for about two years, I made a mistake.
My friends said they saw her with a guy at the mall. So I got in my car and created a scene. On our way home I was speeding. I can still see the look on Mileys face when I told her we were done. She was kicking my chair from the back seat of the car. Thats when I ran a red light and a cargo truck hit the back seat. Miley was rushed to the hospital.
The doctors never told me she died, it was the police officers that did. A week later at the funeral, I found out the guy that was at the mall with her was actually just a cousin helping her pick out an outfit for our date.
I try to forget this. But it always comes back to haunt me. Now I live with my current girlfriend in Miami, Florida. My brothers live with me also. I never really forgave myself and Ashley doesnt know anything about my past.
Thats when I got a flash back.
FLASH
Miley: [sitting at a table during the prom, alone]
Joe: [walks over and bends down] Would you like this dance?
Miley: [laughs, goes along] Of course [takes his hand and walks out onto the floor]
Joe: [puts his hands around her waist]
Miley: [wraps her arms around his necks, and rests her head on his chest]
Joe: [rocks back in forth]
Miley: Joe, this is sweet
Joe: [smiles]
Miley: [looks up at him]
Joe: [leans in]
Miley: [leans in also]
Joe: [kisses her]
Miley: [kisses back, pulls away]
Joe: Would you like to be my girlfriend?
Miley: Yes of course
FLASH
Joe: [throws the box into the closet and shuts it] Why the hell cant you get out of my head!!
