Shekhting in Israel: KNIFE CHECKING: RAMBAM

Preparations for shekhting - Rambam: Checking the knife for defects on all three sides of the knife (including edge) back and forth - with the fleshy part of the finger (6 motions) and then the actual nail back and forth (another 6 motions) is required. This is a total of 12 times.
