A number of users over at the official PlayStation forums are reporting that the LCD screen found in PSP-3000 units has poor de-interlacing quality, resulting in a somewhat noticeable reduction of image quality in fast-moving sequences displayed on-screen.

Forum user Prothean supplied a video clip that shows the aforementioned issue in action. As you can see, scanlines are visible when moving between icons in the XMB. The same effect is nowhere to be seen on the PSP-2000 unit, which is compared to a 3000 model side-by-side in the video.

  • Fair enough; my apologies; I REALLY need to work on my temper....

  • Even with the supposed "scanlines" or "interlacing" that appear on the screen, in comparison to the PSP 1000 or even the PSP 2000, in my opinion is way better and I appreciate the semi-anti-glare finish on the new PSP

  • Get glasses... the main difference are the scanlines.. you don't care?

good for you :D, to the people that CAN see them and hate them can use it as a reason to go back to ver. 2000 :(

  • There's no frigging difference

  • @Fo3modtut They used different LCDs then the 2k did. Of course, the Nintendo DS also has interlacing issues.

  • I heard it was something to do with the configuration of the pixels.

  • @acuidad Well to be honest; it seems like 90% of all internet users should work on their temper. :)

  • my 3000 doesn't do that

  • @AdvancedGamer52439 umm ok

yeahh I rather carry the game bro its good for the excercise..

but yeah I kinda like the psp go its built well ..

  • @MrChrisz5 Yeah sure you have to download games for psp go but would you rather carry around bulky umds? I have a psp go and it is really awesome. If you delete a game from your psp go, you can re-download that game for free and so many stupid people say you have to re-buy them after you delete a game.

  • wow people are complaining about this! ITS MINOR OMG!!!

  • cheaper screen.
