My entry to the Mr Vee Y&B competition.
If you enjoy this video, or any of my other sailing videos, please consider registering (for free) at MrVane.com and voting for this video on the 25th January.

With a Y&B on the back of Kudu I could seriously increase my cruising ground and start producing some REALLY adventurous videos.

Thanks for watching.

  • Soo, you started sailing 2009? Never had experience before that? If so, how did you start etc? Your my idol if thats true.

  • @Bornisen It's a very long story, but essentially, yes. I once had a lesson in a dinghy so I had a basic idea of how it all worked, but when I set off in 2009 it was the first time I'd sailed a boat at sea, and the first time I'd singlehanded.

It was quite some learning curve. Crossing the Thames estuary, I had one of Kudu's bilge keels entirely out of the water. That was the first time I'd ever tried to reef a sail.

  • I toought that you had sold Kudu!... Best of luck! ;-)

  • @OldJong Nah, the blog at onkudu.com tells all, the videos are only really for special events. There was no interest at all, and eventually I realised that she was too good to sell anyway, so I've been refitting her. Hatches replaced with water tight ones, total rewire of the electrics, water system (hot and cold running water)... oh, the list seems endless. When it's all done I'll make a video to show you exactly what I've done, but it's all there at onkudu.com already.

  • Late to this, but I see you won the contest... which I'm happy about. :)

One of these days I will make the short trip over to Preston and take a look at the famed Kudu for myself... hopefully I won't be too starstruck, but you never can tell how you'll react upon meeting a megastar like her.

What's your drink, Nathan? I'll bring some over (as long as it's not some super expensive malt, anyway) when I come.

  • Great video @onkudu, well done.

  • 64%mate looking good gave you my vote

  • Go on then, I'll vote for you - but I want some help planning a rewire of my 19' boat!
