Because firefighters dont always carry their pagers, sirens are used as a very important backup for altering firefighters. Also, pagers fail to go off, they are an imperfect piece of technology.

AWESOME!!!
The fire hall that I started with in 1996 had the old air raid siren attached to the paging system. Wow, did that bring back memories.
Thanks for posting

What type of siren do you guys use?
-
@yz250rac3r its all part of your firedepartment and fire dispatch. Every city has a different tone out sound.
-
holy, that was LOUD! That will teach me not to have the volume full blast when i watch these.
-
i love the classic loud one in the back groud its friggin beast
-
dubble skirts and 16 ports damn
-
our dispatch centers we get dispatched from use both of those tones in our pagers. One tone means its from one county and the other from another county.
-
dude those things break so easily... a kid dropped mine and now it wont have any communication on it.

I live about 15 minutes from this station, and the first time I saw the siren, I thought it was an ACA banshee. I've never seen another sentry that looks like this.
