This was my final project for Basic Filmmaking. I've actually been planning this concept since the first week of class. Unfortunately, only about 4% of it actually went according to plan. Mostly due to lack of time and resources. Maybe I'll remake it one day. Took me 15 hours of editing!
Like a rose, love is beautiful and sometimes painful. It is also one of the few things people seek knowing they will get hurt. Love, Unexpected explores all the elements of said love; when its born, the early stages, the honeymoon period, the betrayal, and the termination. The motive behind this work was to create an intimate relationship between two people, not only silently, but with interesting aesthetics. A concept long evolved; initially the film was to explore one mans emotions: happiness, grief, anger, humor, love, fear, etc. However, during the filming process, the story developed into something a bit different. Rather than all emotions, mostly extreme forms of love and cynicism are displayed. Taking an arbitrary situation into a harsh resolution, the protagonist undergoes a series of unexpectations.
The rapid editing at the end there was pretty freaking sweet. p.s writing the words on your film must have taken a long time.
