This time she sings from Puccini's Edgar, Fidelia's arietta: O fior del giorno, salve alba serena!

This may be Dame Kiri Te Kanawa's last performance on the operatic stage (although she indicated she would still appear in concerts) as she officially retired with the Marschallin in 2011, but still kept her engagement to reprise this role.

January 6, 2012

Kiri Te Kanawa sings Duchesse de Krakenthorpe in the last performance of the MET's La Fille du Régiment.

  • Dame Kiri has taken very good care of her instrument and she is also a very intelligent singer. She is proof that one can sing for a long time if one in smart about their voice.

  • Thank you immensely!!! And for the recitative

  • Thanks for the bootleg. DKTK is not her old self as there is a bit of wobble bit still enchanting as I saw her in 1997 @ the Met.

  • Thank you !!!

  • Delightful!!! Thank you so very much for sharing this! I prefer this aria in context over the Ginastera song...
