Actually, Renaissance painting was exactly that - artificial. They idealised the female form to suit very specific criteria, as desired by society. It just happens that popular culture now no longer desires or respects the voluptuous form. Even the word voluptuous comes from the Latin 'voluptuosus' meaning 'full of pleasure'. It has a much nicer onomatopoeic effect than 'fat', to start with. But yeah, there's nothing wrong with the pictures of the nymphs. They are beautiful.
