Doris Day, Whad'ja put in that kiss? (Clark Gable, Teacher's Pet)

Doris Day sings "Whad'ja put in that kiss" from her album "Live it up", set to scenes from her 1958 movie "Teacher's Pet" with Clark Gable.

In her authorized biography "Her own story" by A.E. Hotchner she says about him:

"He was the King when I was going to the movies in Cincinnati and he was still the King when we made Teacher's Pet. He was as masculine as any man I've ever known, and as much a little boy as a grown man could be - it was this combination that had such a devastating effect on women..."

I love Doris' singing of this song. It's not much of a song, IMHO, but she milks every drop of expressiveness from it giving it the same attention she gave to the really supreme songs. What a pro she is! And what a talent!

I never found her the least bit sexy ever, not once....except, that's right in this film. She was in this and it almost had to be from her feelings for Gable. This is one hell of a movie. They talk about underrated constantly, but this has to go to the top of the comedy underrated lists, easily with give or ten scenes as good as in some of the best comedies ever, because most of it is so natural. The scenes with Gig Young, fabulous also.
