  • This track is actually still in place and beeing developed into Diamond Lakes Regional Park. Primary reason for failure was inability to obtain additional races at the 3 mile road circuit after the death of Glenn "Fireball" Roberts just eight months after the track was finished. "Fireball" designed the track and was involved in development of the entire eight track complex. His feelings, and the feelings of others at that time was that NASCAR would develop into a road racing series.

  • Yesm you can walk the former track at Diamond Lakes Regional Park off Windsor Spring Road between Augusta and Hephzibah, Georgia. The track was the home of the Hephzibah Grand Prix in 1964!

  • Is there anyway we could get in and check it out ourself? I'm from Augusta and I'm fascinated by AIRW and its history.

  • This is cool I'm a local surveyor and we surveyed Diamond Lakes and got to drive around the track before the park was built. They had problems with people drag racing so a guy used a tractor to ripe lines in the track which I'm pretty sure you saw
