This film documents the story of Acho Namgyal, a blind musician who dominated the musical scene of Lhasa in the 1930's. His superb artistry and musical talent revitalized the classical music genres of Nangma and Thoeshey.
The blind son of a poor family, Acho Namgyal was discovered when he was a toddler by a nobleman who took pity on him. Determined to help, the nobleman offered the young child an education and the opportunity to better himself. As Acho Namgyal pursued his studies, he astonished his teachers with his talent for music. Acho Namgyal eventually became the most sought after musician in Lhasa.
His ensemble included two outstanding women singers, who were nicknamed Cat and Crow. Under his leadership, the Nangma Kyidug (association), which originated under the patronage of the Fifth Dalai Lama, flourished once more in Lhasa.
