Part One - Slaves to Superstition

Prof Richard Dawkins tackles the epidemic of irrational, superstitious thinking which is blotting the light of logic and evidence. After garnering tips on psychics' entirely earthly trade secrets from the illusionist Derren Brown, Dawkins attends a seance and confronts the medium. Time and again, the interviewees appeal to personal revelation or second-hand anecdote to justify their belief.

  • I have a simple question:

Is there a reason to follow reason in every aspect of life?

  • any bible bashers watching?

  • @bluntun faith = grinning and thanking someone for blowing smoke up your ass.

  • 240p... long time no see

  • Lol, at 8:26 there seems to be some people feeding pigeons and then some guy comes and scares them away.

  • The Xerxes metaphor was so spot on.... Religion or 9/11 conspiracies anyone?

  • @lewisner Hasa Diga Eebowai!!!!

  • @TheGildedStar I know where you're coming from, I have the same experiences. There is no arguing with people that don't want to listen to reason. You can say whatever you want they simply don't care.

  • @RavensOfMyFuneral True, and I want to tell all of my religious, superstitious friends to watch this. But by contrast they'll tell me "no, read this book Jesus Freak [or some other book full of stories that are supposed to convince me], it will totally convince you that the words of God is true!"

If I try to argue that I've thoroughly looked at plenty of theist arguments, they'll come up with some lame reason why I can't accept it...

  • "Many of us seem to be trapped in thinking inherited from our primitive ancestors."

When Dawkins says this, you can see a sheep. A coincidence? I don`t think so. I get your message, Dawk; religious people are sheep.
