@WhatWouldJackBauerDo I think knowing english alone is not enough, even though most people around the world speak english. There are certain things you start to understand only after you've learned more than one language. You get a much deeper insight into other cultures. This fosters tolerance for instance, which is very important.

@WhatWouldJackBauerDo I agree that many of Obama's ideas are stupid. But sometimes people don't notice how useful something can be until they've done it. If you ask a kid if he wants to go to school, the most likely answer is gonna be no. I think it's the same with languages. A lot of people might not want to learn them, but when they do, they notice how useful it can be. I know three languages for instance, and I can talk comfortably with a LOT of people around the world.

@Ferike2000 Sure, learning some languages is nice if you actually want to learn. A lot of kids in school have to learn spanish or french ,for example, from elementary to middle school. The "teaching" is pretty useless and i couldnt wait to get out of it cause what was i learning? How to order at taco bell? Plain and simple, learn a language if you want, or if youre parents have you do it. Not because Obama says you have to. All of his ideas are shit, this is no different.

@Ferike2000 if not for America stepping into the war and saving the world from Japanese Imperialism, and German Nazism, yourEngland and the whole of europe would be speaking German...when people come to a new country they should learn to SPEAK THE LANGUAGE!!
