Just me showing off the GUI that came with the Tandy 1000 Series computers, in this case Deskmate II, which is slightly unaccurate to this model (1000 EX), because the 1000 EX had the initial release. Deskmate II came out with the 1000 SX and other 86-87 era 1000 Series machines. I show off almost everything until I have a disk read failure at the end.

  • Is this an early version of Personal Deskmate? Or Personal Deskmate itself?

We had a 1000 TX model long ago and used this program.

  • @thenewageriseth It's actually Deskmate II, which was sold with the Tandy 1000 SX line (8088, 6MHz, 384K, dual 360K Floppy drive). I'm not sure if it came before or after, I think it might have come after because after this came the more feature laden version of Deskmate that came with the 286 based Tandy 1000s.

  • for some odd reason dos and stuff like it used to scare the hell out of me, still does too

  • LOL, well, it is an omnious black screen with just a lonely blinking cursor and a few ASCII characters for company, compared to that vast buggy yet colorful wonderland that is Windows. Linux is scarier, more weird characters at the prompt, but even more rewarding than DOS IMHO.

  • @creepingnet The DOS prompt is the computer version of an existential crisis gone bad...very bad. Windows GUI is the equivalent of a drunken orgy, asses and elbows and STDs.

  • I just got an SX, and have Deskmate II running on it. I'm looking forward to having fun with this thing!

  • i first jerk off in front of one of these with a porn gif !!!! long time ago ...

  • Nice Homestar Runner references at 8 to 8:40! ;)

  • awe\some to see this i did all my college papers on this same unit!

  • I remember figuring out how to make it play music and make the screen different colors..takes me back to when I was a kid..had the Tandy 1000 with 1 floppy drive..
