Responding to jerribryant: You are correct about the tag light having to be visible from a certain distance. Florida State Statute 316.221(2) clearly states that the light must "light the rear registration plate and render it clearly legible from a distance of 50 feet to the rear." Therefore, both the complainant and the gentleman advising are blatantly incorrect when they state there simply must be a working light.

I believe the Deputy did exactly right. He had a record and out late at night. I am sure he was buying gifts at midnight for a child who should of been in bed at that time. I have been stopped for traffic violations myself and know if you are courteous to the officers they will be courteous to you. They put their life on the line everyday and if they need to ask questions or search the car and if you have nothing to hide why not let them search??

Escambia County Sheriff Deputies put up with so much crap from criminals. They are professionals. They protect and serve us. With response to this video. You have to be able to see the tag from a certain distance and not that the light was out. As was told he was in jail before. Innocent victim I guess?????
