Jimmy Garvin holds a news conference in his office with Bill Mercer to discuss him defending the American Heavyweight Title on a weekly basis against "worthy opponents"
@SequentiallyCompact first of all they were expanding before the split. They had the highest rated syndicated show numerous times. Their downfall was a series of deaths that doomed/ cursed the country. David Von Erich was the premier young star in wrestling when he died overseas. Gino Hernandez death also was tough because he was like a young Tully Blanchard. Brusier Broody,Kerry Von Erick, and the list goes on and on of key wrestlers that died. That's what really doomed world class.
World Class was a cool promotion when it was still part of the NWA and they had a great weekly program, but once they split I feel like they couldn't really expand out from Texas and the surrounding states. There was just not enough to carry it without Ric Flair and other big stars coming in from time to time to supplement their fine talent.
ist that fritz's office??? I remember in the world class dvd when kevin is walking around in the sportatorium they showed fritz's office and it had wood panneling...

I LOVE the legends of WCCW. It bought me up to speed, so to speak on just how great they were at a time when I needed it.

At this time, Garvin was the richest pro wrestler in the world making more per year than both flair and hogan. he deserved it.
