  • What I enjoyed about the `twist`at the end of this movie is that it wasn`t simply a hidden detail that is then revealed. When we find out that it was Spider who killed his Mother it is possible to suspect this on your own before the reveal. There is a logic problem in how Spider remembers his Father; take for example how Spider recalls sex acts of his Father, things that he could not have seen. The flashbacks aren`t memories, they are lies to hie the truth; they are webs, human webs.

  • @SeanSoderman I agree, it's not a conventional 'twist', more like just another layer being revealed. This film slowly uncovers details about Spider even when it becomes apparent that the flashbacks are from an unreliable narrator. Personally I found the biggest hint of what was coming was Cronenberg using Miranda Richardson in multiple roles.

  • Brillliant review! You really should be a writer, sir :).

  • @LemonCake07 Thanks.

  • Slippery when unexplained. I've seen it. I've forgotten it. Now I will watch it again. Thanx!

  • @DocHackenbush Slippery when explained too. The further into this film I go, the more questions it throws back.

  • this was a really good movie.

  • This movie was so fucking brilliant. I remember renting it watching it then immediately watching it again with Cronenberg's commentary.

  • I think we need a Cronenberg DVD boxset! Something along the lines of The Coen Brothers Complete Collection 1984-2004, with as many of Cronenberg's fims as possible. I'd certainly buy it!

  • Try to upload this movie please, I'm dieting to see it!!

  • well done.

    very on point.

    perhaps cronenberg's most underrated film.
