you can still get the geddy sound with out a rick/fender. use the rotosound strings (rs66ld), boost mids, play fingerstyle more agressively, and get the tech 21 sansamp bass driver DI

I'm pretty sure Geddy used a Fender in the studio for Moving Pictures

Geddy gets that sound with his Jazz bass too, but I cant help you on how he does it, maybe the strings?

@silddx , thanks much ,,been playing every song,every album since i was 11yrs old,,i'm 41 now,,i better know this by now,,My brother brought Exit Stage Left to my room in 1981 & that was when i set my mission to learn this stuff right..i think it;s about time i post so new video's of some la villa ,yyz, i'll be posting them real soon,,thanks again for the kind comments,, i also record alot of concerts in NJ NY,,Got 3 great ones from last tour that are not public yet..
