Ik vind de scene met de jenever op het strand zo leuk:P Fles jenever is vol, "Ja kun je zo opdrinken", neemt een slok, fles is op de helft gevuld...En even later zit de fles gewoon weer vol haha.

One year before I was born. This was pure porn I remember. Had to sneak to my mother's bedroom and watch on a small white Sony full colour Bravia ...
Later I really saw the movie again. It is such a beautiful tragedy...the ending is so disgustingly mechanical and flat...as death usually is. No glory, no nothing. Just a fact. Clean it up, life goes on. But it isn't really... or so we would like to believe.

Turks Fruit. A classic of the Dutch film history. Verhoeven's masterful adaptation with many emotional layers. Unspeakably beautiful (the beach scene's intimacy is channeled through the cinematography), but at the same time it's amoral, either when Eric screws the girls in his dissapointment either when Eric and Olga show their rebellious side in the cover of extreme frivolity. Shocking too. Olga is so helpless in the end. I think the mom's absurd behavior was a directorial intention.
