This is a Waverley depot bus. Can't remember the bus number but it is an OC 500 LE CNG doing the inbound run from Bondi Junction Interchange to Burwood. The memory card in my digital camera only takes about 56 mins of video so I only taped up until Mascot just before the domestic airport terminal. I managed to edit that 56 mins down to 36 mins in 3 parts. I am the bus driver.

The 400 bus route is a limited stops service linking bondi and burwood, along the way we link 3 westfield shopping centres (bondi, eastgardens and burwood), not to mention Randwick and Maroubra shopping centres, both airport terminals, 7 train stations including Bondi, Mascot, Banksia, Rockdale, Bexley North, Campsie and Burwood (not to mention the airport terminal train stations). It is the longest Waverley depot route taking anywhere between 1h and 20 mins to 1h and 40 mins in peak hour times, it always runs late and has been known to take up to 2 hours sometimes, a new timetable is coming into effect on November 28th 2010 which also includes the 410 services.

The 400 used to be known as a metro line service and was an exclusive roster that you had to put your name down for and there was a higher rate of pay as well. You had to be trained where all the stops were, but now they are so frequent that everyone does them, trained or not. There is a lot of senior drivers who have never done a 400 further than the eastgardens shuttle 400's, as they have had their own line of work for so many years which helps create more oppurtunities for newer drivers such as myself to score some overtime and take some pride knowing that I can do this run. Its a good trip with a lot of main roads and if your on time, a large break before going back.

  • also you know when the passengers pay the money o get on.for the money do you like leave it in the bus or take it back to the depot and drop in in some kind of container lol.looks like our Tax is paying for the Buses the government buys,Petrol to feed the buses,Payment to the busdrivers and service of the buses.

  • @holdencommstra , when you start the job you are given a cash tray with a $20 float in it. At the end of everyday you deposit the takings except $20 into cash machine at the depot that looks a bit like an atm. But with many major roads in sydney going pre-pay, we dont take too much money anymore which is good as it is quicker for everyone getting on the bus.

  • @wazzamolloy1 thats awesome lol.by the way have you taken any 555 free shuttle bus any time. The 555 service seem to be own by STA and that must be the easiest route you could ever take.i wonder what depot organizes that.

  • @holdencommstra , the 555 is one of sydney buses services as well, it is operated by the willoughby depot, i don't think its any easier than any other route as they probably get a lot of tourists asking a lot of questions.

  • i like this bus in front of you in the beginning of the video around 0.02.seems like the Mercedes-Benz or Volvo bus.can't tell because they both have the same body and i don't know which company even makes these buses.what i think is that the body is made by some other bus making company and they inserted a Mercedes or Volvo engine also the badge hope thats correct lol.

  • @holdencommstra , The 2 main bus body builders are volgren and custom coaches and when they made the scania range they used ansair company, the really old mercedes non air con buses have a body by pmc (pressed metal corporation). Yes they just put the body around the engine and chassis of whatever bus it is whether it be scania, volvo, mercedes, etc.

  • @holdencommstra the bus in the start of this video is a Custom Coach CB60evo2 and its a Mercedes run on natural gas. You can tell the Merc's and the Volvo's apart on the road because the mrec's have the gas tank on the roof at the front where as the Volvo's run on diesel with adblue so the aircon on the Volvo's is the only thing on the roof

  • @holdencommstra thats cool.Gas buses wow seems like a good way for environmental friendly.oh and you should go check out businterchange it's a website that has all photos of buses in australia.i think you might like it and you could upload some STA buses images on it too.

  • @holdencommstra , it is indeed one of the new mercedes OC 500 LE CNG buses (we call them new gas, 0405 gas is old gas), most probably from the port botany depot, you can tell its a gas bus when it has the large tank up top front and the air con unit up top towards the back. The volvo b12b's have the same body but as they are diesel they only have an air con unit up top front.

  • @wazzamolloy1 haha okay
