TSRA 2007 Garand and Vintage Rifle champion, 2011 National Vintage Rifle Champion demonstrates using a web sling on a CMP M1 Garand. Notice the trigger work while shooting. Finger relaxes off the trigger just enough to reset.
USGI web slings legal for CMP matches with any rifle, including foreign military.

Would it be possible to fit this sling to a Lee Enfield?

As long as the sling swivels are 1 1/2 inches, no problem. The web sling works well also. I have it in a separate video.

Wonderful. It's sad how the rifleman was fazed out by the frontline grunt after WWII. Techniques like this could have went a long way toward managing the M1/M14's recoil with a little training. Most shooters my age nowadays have no idea what a slings for.

Sounds like a position referred to as "hasty sling"

I think I saw something like it demonstrated in the "Rifle Marksman Training- M1 Garand" video in the related videos column to the right.

That is called a hasty sling, they teach it in the USMC as well as this sling method in the video.

The reason is follow-through. If you've got a good tight setup on the rifle the only voluntary movement of your body should be your trigger finger moving straight to the rear. The follow-through is simply the continuation of that movement after the shot breaks. Since the trigger usually can't travel any further you simply hold it there. Follow-through is a disciplined action to minimize the possibility of the shooter disrupting the sight picture as the shot breaks.

I use the sling standing (or "off hand") by wrapping my arm inside and around it and then grabbing the stock as normal. It puts firm pressure on both my wrist and upper elbow and stabilizes the rifle beyond what I normally would have it. I'm not putting my arm through the loop but I'm doing almost the same thing and still getting the same effect as if I had put my arm through the loop in the traditional method. Have you seen anyone use a sling like that?

Nice jacket and glove. Reminds me of the USMC shooting jackets. Nothing Fancy. Where'd you get the Jacket?
