Bo, the new White House Dog who's expected to move in April 14, can trace his roots to Erie. Sort of. Millcreek Township dog breeder and handler Julie Parker was the matchmaker of record back in August when a pair of Portuguese water dogs named Watson and Penny met at Parker's kennel on Old Sterrettania Road for a single date. A few months later, according to a report in the April 13 issue of the Washington Post, Penny gave birth to 10 puppies at her owner's place in Texas. One of those puppies will be presented April 14 to Sasha and Malia Obama as a gift from Sen. Edward Kennedy. To view more from the Erie Times-news visit GoErie.com.
