PrayerStop... Ha ha, thanks for showing YOUR ignorance in a way only an American right wing religious fundie could. Don't you realize that Jesus spoke in parables and alegory. I searched many bible study sites and could not find ONE that interpreted that verse to mean literally "take up arms against your enemies". As for you quoting from one of Paul's letters...so what? They are the word's of Paul that's all. And in any case he's not saying you can kill to defend yourself. Religious nutjob!.

"However, you may purchase male or female slaves from among the foreigners who live among you. You may also purchase the children of such resident foreigners, including those who have been born in your land. You may treat them as your property, passing them on to your children as a permanent inheritance. You may treat your slaves like this, but the people of Israel, your relatives, must never be treated this way. Leviticus 25:44-46

Except for murder, slavery has got to be one of the most immoral things a person can do. Yet slavery is rampant throughout the Bible in both the Old and New Testaments. The Bible clearly approves of slavery in many passages, and it goes so far as to tell how to obtain slaves, how hard you can beat them, and when you can have sex with the female slaves.

Thank you for showing your ignorance. The Commandment's, "Thou Shall Not MURDER." There's a big difference between murder and killing. I'm commanded to love my wife like Christ loved the church. So if I have to die defending my family, I would gladly lay my life down for them. Jesus said to the disciples to buy a sword (Luke 22:36). "It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery."-Galatians 5:1

Excuse me...I believe the commandment is thou shalt not KILL. Furthermore, didn't your Jesus teach to turn the other cheek? Didn't Peter draw his sword to protect Jesus from the Romans only to be rebuked by Jesus for doing so? If you know anything about your religion I think you will find that before it was taken over by the Romans at the behest of Constantine it was a totally pacifist religion. Where does Jesus EVER defend himself with violence or killing?

A man's ethical behavior should be based effectually on sympathy, education, and social ties; NO religious basis is necessary. Man would indeed be in a poor way if he had to be restrained by fear of punishment and hope of reward after death....

What make you think i don't have a respect for the universe ..?
well you just exposed your self to me that you don't know anything about GOD creations and obviouslly about history in general
-
The commandment is thou shalt not murder. Self Defense is demanded by God.

Wake up and thank GOD for whatever you are and whatever you have and don't forget you still have something that millions don't have................I also have something that you don't have, a respect for the universe and all things that have evolved including humans, without the need to attribute "GOD" to things that I could not possibly explain,

Give the anti-religion stuff a break. I'm an atheist myself, but as long as people aren't harming, verbally or otherwise, others who don't share their faith then I don't have a problem with them. Have some respect for people's opinions, religious or otherwise, right or wrong.
