A response to Cody Weber's video "Love".
Is it possible to be head-over-heels in love with your idea of a person rather than the person themselves? I think so. I've been infatuated with women before, but I don't believe I have yet been truly in love with one. I was once in love with my religion and was so infatuated with the idea of a perfect being who loved me unconditionally that I didn't bother to question whether or not it was actually real. It felt real, so therefore it must be.
From the relationships I've observed, I think seeing reality objectively for what it truly is, and still loving the person, is what is required for real love. I would cite my parents as an example of this kind of relationship. So I know it's possible. But it's not like you see in the movies.
What you said wasn't that weird. Love has no concrete definition to it.

Like Chris Rock says, when you meet someone, you don't really meet them. You meet their representative.

I can say that there have been a couple of occasions where I really "thought" that I was in love (and maybe I was--I'm not sure I really know what love is), but after it was over, I came to "realize" that it was just an "illusion" (apologies for all the quotation marks)
