April 17, 2009 - Jeremy McInerney (University of Pennsylvania), Tracy Lee Simmons (Hillsdale College), and Carl Richard (University of Louisiana-Lafayette) participated in the second panel of the Hauenstein Center's conference, "Barack Obama and the Lessons of Antiquity." Dr. McInerney presented a paper on, "Reading Thucydides in Washington." Tracy Lee Simmons gave a talk on Thomas Jefferson, classical humanism, and education.

Mr. Simmons is director of the Herbert H. Dow II Chair in Journalism and lecturer in journalism at Hillsdale College. He earned his B.A. from the University of Cincinnati and his M.A. in language and literature from the University of Oxford. He teaches on journalism, history, and writing.
