KASHISH Queer Filmfest Trailer

Mumbai will have its biggest LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender) International Film Festival called KASHISH Mumbai International Queer Film Festival(MIQFF), starting on the 22nd of April till 25th April 2010.

Celina Jaitley will unveil the festival trailer on the 15th of April 2010 at 7 p.m. in Hotel Royal Garden, Juhu Tara Road. The trailer offers an intriguing sneak peek into whats in store for four days of queer celebration across many platforms of artistic experiences and expressions. Celina Jaitley, who has been an ambassador of queer rights and champion for demanding dignity for queer persons unveiled the festival trailer and flagged off the film festival campaign.

Kashish, which promises to be the largest queer film festival in India, presents 110 films from over 25 countries over the four days at two venues in Mumbai. This is one festival which brings together the film makers, writers, intellectuals, academicians, activists, stars and celebrities with both queer and mainstream audience in an interactive celebration of the queer experience.

The USP of this festival is its efforts to mainstream the gay culture by screening the films at mainstream venues PVR Cinemas in Juhu and Alliance Francaise in Marine Lines. This is the first ever time in India that a queer film festival is being held in a multiplex theater.

Each of the films screened explores the life stories and experiences of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender characters, highlighting not only the difficulties but also the sheer currents of diversity real life offers when one finds himself or herself different from the flow around. Queer or not, this festival has food for thought on offer for everyone.
