I realized that I neglected my Dutch composers lately. So I wanted to play some Sweelinck again. This time a toccata and Psalm 23 (one of the 2 settings made by Sweelinck) played on virginal and a piece of gamba in between).

What beautifully seductive, lush sounds! Just right for Sweelinck, I feel - I'm sure his music was one of the reasons the church fathers fulminated against "over-elaborate" music, as distracting the people from the worship of God ... You have given me great pleasure - thank you!
