my dad lived in this pub he was one ov the nutters but i loved him so sad to see this pub go :( R.I.P. Benchill pub

I,m sad to see it go. 53 years ago i used to sit on the step and my dad would bring me out a packet of smiths chips, i had fun searching for the little blue bag of salt and a lemonade to wash it down.....

Get real - the Bench was a dump filled with nutters. Lived in Woodhouse Park for years so I know this place!

i worked there and was sorry to see it go ... but we needed a collage in da shawe ... so its part of the regen :)

I happen to know for a fact that there is going to be a new Wythenshawe campus for Manchester College put in place at this site, which is going to be very beneficial for Wythenshawe as a whole! Then ofcourse the Metro Link which has also been given the go ahead, i'm very happy all this is happening!

Yes we needed a new college but the planners and architects could have incorporated the building within their plans and maybe used it as a common room or a community centre thus saving the building for posterity.

Most people in Wythenshawe thought that The Bench was a listed building after Willow Park Housing Trust used it as their headquarters. Although progress and developement has to be made at what cost ? Please leave your commments ??
