Jonathan Larson's international hit musical Rent will finally receive its Mexican Premiere June 24. This will be the first time that the Tony Award-winning musical will be performed in Spanish.
The original English title, Rent; is preserved for the Mexican production according to producer Morris Gilbert, who is producing the musical in association with OCESA.
The cast for Rent includes Erik Rubin, member of the popular "Timbiriche" band; Enrique Chi, whose performance as Harry Houdini in the musical Houdini, La Magia del Amor was generally praised; Alberto Castillo (Houdini); Sergio Saldívar (Gaston in Beauty and the Beast); Laura Cortés; and César Romero.
Directed by Abby Epstein and choreographed by Chrisitine Bandelow, Rent will play for an open-ended run at the Teatro Alameda 2 located at the corner of Avenida Cuahtémoc and Calle Puebla in México City.
