Les Brown wasn't the bandleader. It was Skitch Henderson, who also played the character "Sidney Ferguson" on the Man on the Street" interviews.

Tony Randall looks like he is 12 years old in this video! I loved it when Tony (a.k.a. Felix Unger) used to sing this song on The Odd Couple! WE MISS YOU TONY!

THAT'S interesting! Thanks for the nifty bit of cocktail party convo to add to my font of trivial knowledge!!!

That phrase comes from the face of an opossum ('possum), which looks like it's in a macabre smile when it opens its mouth.
And they eat they eat just about anything, including feces.
If you've driven by one eating in the road at night and see it raise its head up from its meal to look at you, that's the look.

These shows were performed live, twice; once for the East coast then again for the West. This was really hard on the performers' nerves. In some instances, the weekly guests would even bring private physicians with them to help them deal with the pressure.

@Duke535 - You are so true!

I liked the version felix unger & the sophisticados did on the odd couple

Shit eating grin? Where in the world did that phrase ever come from? How in the wide wide world of sports could anyone eat feces & be able to grin??? I shake my head in wonderment & dismay. And in regards to Don Knotts, I refuse to believe those persistent rumors that he had an affair with Ayn Rand & that Steve Busemi is their love child.

Very perceptive of you....Jo IS off-key here, but deliberately so. You seem to be the only one who noticed!

Don Knotts Shit Eating Grin-Smile.... ??
Excuse me ?
Jo was not fond of doing club work or television but as you can see here she was beautiful, poised and could do comedy along with the best. She had three singing careers: One as the peerless Jo Stafford, another as the painful Darlene Edwards and another as the million-selling country diva Cinderella G. Stump. But the public focused mostly on Jo as Jo because she was such a singularly perfect vocal artist. Gorgeous voice, always pitch perfect, a great singing actress.

We had a few Steve allan shows broadcast here in the UK some years ago. I loved them. Don Knotts was great and so was Louie Nye, great natural comics both.
