Aha! I love it how he is overcome with hesitation as he approaches the table with the intention of launching a zealous attack on the assembly seated there!
Also, note how Michael proclaims that "guests are not aloud behind reception" - clearly the Travel Tavern's handyman doesn't yet view Alan as a friend.
