  • One thing I couldn't get over when I started watching this vid: why is the camera framing angled so high?

As fot the video, it rather depends the way you look at live performances, I was recently at the Melbourne Youtube Gathering which had live performances by Youtubers on Stage throughout the day, and despite the rain it was fantastic. I think its more that youtube is reinventing our entertainment society.

  • @dctcool Because I thought framing that required me to stand on tiptoes would work, or in other words, beats me. This sentence is just to acknowledge the rest of your comment.

  • there are definitely people who come on YouTube purely to watch; which is what I think the mainstream media focus on the majority of time. Whereas there is the whole other realm of people who interact with their audience which is just as, if not more, a matter of connection than what can be achieved by live performance. Particularly vloggers; the fourth wall is taken down completely. It can become less of a show, more of a skype call-type thing.

That is all ^_^ GOOD TOPIC!

  • @gnomeoneshome Thanks and there's even a community built around Let's Plays, there's a lot of cool stuff going on.

  • Mmm. I think some performance art is alright. It totally depends on the thing. Just to be shocking, in the opinion of me, is not enough of a reason to be performing. If there is a point to the shocking... like making a statement, is partially better. But people like Franko B (who once walked down a catwalk with catheters in his veins, bleeding) is really not... good. Even if it has a point. Putting yourself in danger? Bad.

I agree what you say about YouTube and community...

  • @gnomeoneshome Yeah I agree, that's why I made a point of saying hair pulling. There are some things that I really enjoy that would probably be called performance art, I like dance and theatre so it's more than likely.

  • I've always found (good) video performance art very engaging. Even the Bas Jan Ader film in which he just ride a bike into a canal brought back all these memories and feelings about falling and how it can completely nullify any other feelings as our body instinctually tries to stay upright. I suppose I just one of those pretentious hipsters who likes stuff like this.

  • @KateyJW No, I recorded the entire thing once and realised none of it saved and had to do the entire thing again. It was also a really humid day, sadly, this is not me at my physical best.

  • did you run up a few flights of stairs previous to this!? you sound out of breath!

  • @tetsubo57...I am saying that ART is not merely possible, it already exists on YouTube. And, while there are indeed plenty of dogs on YT (of ALL kinds) I would have thought THAT was simply stating the obvious.
