If I put the motu 24 I/O between my pc and a mixing consolle 24 ch, can I use my pc as a multitrack recorder in play mode? Can it holds 24 tracks together in play? thanx

Now i use on PC from MotU: 3x 24i/o, 1x 2408mk3 with 8pre = 88 analog Inputs and 80 analog Outputs. In Logic PC (or any similar Software) i use all together how i need. It means: In one Step i can listen all 88 Channels, a few of Audio (wav) Channels, a lfew of plugins (Synth and FX), recording few audio Channels. The Limits are given by: The Hardisk = Say how many AudioChannels (wav) you can read or save in one step = R&W-Speed. And the CPU say how many Plugins i can use native.

This all is possible in realtime with my old Pentium Core2Duo 2x2.07GHz and one Harddisk.

I know it works with Recording of 16Channels 24bit 96kHz in one step. Usually i only need to recording 2 Channels and Play, maybe, 8-16 Channels. I never made a recording with all 88 Channels. If i create the final Song/Mix in Logic, then i use "Bouncing" to freeze all things i hear in a 2Channel Mix.

If you want Recording AND play 24 Channels from/to Harddisk, then you need a fast System.

can record 24 simultaneous tracks for pc? I am Portuguese, Portugal ... and maybe I'll buy motu 24 but not know if it good and not know that such technology and I'm afraid that n can connect it with my pc ...

Theoretical it's possible to play and record in one step simultaneous 96 Channels in 24bit/96kHz. In fact i think most computer don't have enough power to read the wave data of 96 channels easy from the harddisc - power = limit. A 24 i/o have got 24 analogue in an 24 analogue out. In my system i use the MotU's as mixer. In the sequencer i have any input from all synthesizers in real time ready for processing with plugins, can play and record in same step audio and softsynths.

MotU is with any software in Windows and Apple compatible. But this/my system is with a internal pci-card. For this it requires a PC or a Power-Mac. It isn't possible to connect direct with any other usually firewire bus. There are many other solutions with usually firewire. Also MotU brings a similar solution. Current i use 3x 24 i/o, 1x 2408mkII (with 1x 8pre) on my pci-424 in PC. All works perfect and sounds in really good quality :)
