May 29th, 1996 marked the world premiere of the Cleveland San Jose Ballet's production of "Blue Suede Shoes": a rock and roll ballet set to the music of the legendary Elvis Presley in commemoration of the unique American spirit that he inspired during the 1950s. Bob Mackie worked as the production's Scenery and Costume Designer. "Blue Suede Shoes" marked Bob Mackie's first foray into ballet as well as the first time he had ever designed scenery. In the end, Bob Mackie created more than 280 costumes and 16 sets for the production.

  • there were/are many others much more talented and with nicer personalities.....and not as much of a deranged heavy load to "deal" with.

  • @IzzyForeva1996 not impressed. it was not her it was the choreography.

  • ana lobe iswas not amazing...she iswas a puppet and heartless. seems to me in a prior existence she had a "fling" with molatov and messed with his head. of course they all did that over there. cuba was another fiasco. these types get catered to at the expense of the more decent and insightful and at their expense. not impressed ("emporessed"") ana lobe. go where you belong.

  • this iswas a terrific ballet but cleveland ballet was a "world-class company" with worldly issues connected to it for example seems to me in a prior existence ana lobe was a communist in russia and very arrogant and self centered.

    well my ballet teacher has a vhs tape of it obviously since she was in it. i recently had it copied onto a dvd and its great!! i would love to somehow sendd you a copy of it!. btw; sorry for the late reply! :)

    the whole thing just blew my mind when i saw it...

  • i saw this in san jose, back in the day.

    i know there's a video/DVD out there (i know i saw it and i'm not just making it up!)

    i would do just about anything to have a copy of this on DVD!

  • ohmygod, ilove this!!! the dancer who is the lady cop in jail house rock and some other parts of the dances is Ana Lobe; she is now my ballet teacher!!! she is absolutely AMAZING!!!!! i love her, shes the best. :) she has her own studio called Great Lakes Youth Ballet in North Royalton. she showed us the full video in the summer, i need too see it again thou, haha,. :)
