This slideshow movie shows the excavated contents of a mud nest (6 cells) made by a spider wasp (Auplopus carbonarius, family Pompilidae). One sac spider (Clubiona spp., family Clubionidae) without some limbs was found in paralysis in each cell as the food for a growing larva. Late-June 2009 in Japan. Aside from one dead prepula, 3 male wasps and 2 females emerged.

that is a good question! :)
the mother wasp had cut them off before storing the paralyzed prey into the nest.
it is one of the unique behaviours by this group of spider wasps.
