UPDATE: George passed on New Years Day 2010. RIP, we love you George and thanks for being you!

George designed and made woman's clothing for the Hollywood studios, before and after WWII. He had a design school in Hollywood called The Trippon School of Design. His TV show, "Sew What's New", was made and aired over a period of about 20 years, starting in 1970. He wrote and published two books in conjunction with the show: "Becoming a Dress Designer: What Every Designer Should Know", and "Let's Design, Cut, Sew, and Fit With George W. Trippon". Both books are rare and difficult to find.
His partner James died in 2006. They were together for 64 years -- He wrote a book about their life together called "Ode to Jimmie". He also wrote a book about his childhood called "Pidgeon Hill" both are available from Amazon.

  • @store275 At first I only had a small segment of his show from an old VHS tape that I posted on you tube when you tube first started. I could not find any info on him via the internet and frankly thought he had passed so I posted the video without permission... a couple years later (2007) I get this email saying "I am George W. Trippon" He was great and just wanted to make a friend and was pleased that I put him on the internet for all to see. documentary coming soon called "Trippon"

  • I'll never forget Mr. Trippon saying:

"You should never, never, never pull a thread...otherwise you will have a run. And you should never, never, never have a run...unless you are a hit show on Broadway, and then you should RUN FOREVER!"

  • RIP George... God bless you.

Hope your sewing up a storm up there in that big sewing room in the sky xxxx
