Someone are using "walked away" how a minor problem. Sorry, a death is great problem and you yet worry about the rest of the plane? I can not understand. Throw this things out in the trash and remember the will and the parents of the pilots. Just a little of humanity, please!!!

@lghollyonTwitter1 Sure, the pilots were fine and jolly after destroying a vintage plane by student pilot error. So fine, so fine.

@ROCKSTARCRANE You don't ever "pull power" past the decision point, is it "V1?"
-
Classic twin mistake. They had plenty of room to stop. shoulda pulled power on both plants instead of trying to get off on one.

Thank God the crew walked away. The plane didn't look like it was totaled. Were they able to restore it? I believe that you can count the amount of flyable A-26s on one hand.

Did the pilots die or what? Cheers
NO ONE DIED. The pilots were fine.

This A-26 was owned by The Collins Foundation. They said the airframe was too damaged. They removed usable parts were removed & sent to FL. Most of the airframe was scrapped. Part of the fuselage is a keepsake for someone in Kankakee. Collins acquired another A-26 airframe & have all the parts to restore the aircraft. The problem: cost to restore is over one million & the value of a flying A-26 is less than $300,000. Bottom line, it isn't going to happen.
