That's probably one way, but what about the mummies that are laying horizontal? Most mummies are found laying down and gravity doesn't pull sideways, of course :) they pull down. And also heard that from a documentary about mummies, called, "mummies frozen in time."

@1792bethany Gravity. The lower jaw is hanging down and the skin and the muscles can't hold it because they are rotting. They are not well preserved.

Because when the bodies dehydrate their bodies tense up and their mouths open up wide. I'm sure why that is.
