I've heard this song sung thousands of times since I was a wee bairn by hundreds of legendary Scottish singers, but this is without doubt one of the finest versions I've ever heard: sung with passion, timing, and pleasant yet melancholic air that captures the bittersweet subject matter (despite the cough - or 'host' as we NE Scots say)! In fact it is second only to the incomparable Alastair McDonald. Take that as a fact from a true blue Scot born and bred! Well done, you hirsute minstrel you!

great cover of a favourite folk song of mine i learned this song in the Glasgow youth choir when i was 11 and it has stuck with me and this is a great fresh take that gives this song a modern justice
