I agree with EarestTBass- Yorktown used to be a great place for kids. I grew up there in the late 60s and early 70s. I remember fishing off the pier behind the post office too. I used to catch blow toad after blow toad. A typical day for a 10 year old would be passed by fishing, swimming in the jelly fish laden river, playing army on the battlefield and hanging out in Cornwallis' cave. I haven't seen Yorktown in 35 years now. I'm guessing that a return visit would be a severe disappointment.
i love yorktown theres not that much but everyone still hangs out at the beach. its so beautiful. but whats betters is the movies and walmart is close to it too. we all go here before all our dances like homecoming and ring dance to take nice pics
I saw the "new" Yorktown not to long ago, really sad! All I saw was commercialism....money, money, money! Long gone are the old family friendly days of fishing from the post office wharf or the pier behind the laundry mat. The old beach stores that gave Yorktown Beach character are also long gone. Then there was Nick's. I attended the old school in Yorktown before they built the new one & spent most of my childhood roaming the area. It was really sad to go back & see the "new" money Yorktown.
the only good thing is the beach and ben and jerry's is ok but it's not the real thing i just moved down her vermont and i lived 15 min away from were ben and jerrys stared.
