@whoelsezr1 I'm happy for you that you can feel that way. What did it for me were looking into questions like... why do christian marriages fail as often or more than non? (if an all powerful good being brought them together)... why would god tell Moses to dash infants from the walls or kill all the kids except the young girls to "take as wives"? why would a being who put a black hole at the center of billions of galaxies write a book defining the price of a slave at 30 sheckles of silver?

@RealYRM Quite the contrary actually, the more you study God's word the closer you become to him. He is much more than a fictitious comforting character, he is Alpha and Omega, beginning and end. He can become so much more! He wants to be close to you, closer than any person could, let alone a fictitious character.

Appreciate the kind thoughts. Going through what I went through didn't cause me to turn away from my faith though, it just made me realize that my beliefs were like beliefs in The Great Pumpkin or Santa. Once you know Santa isn't real, and that rich kids get more presents because they have rich parents, you can't just "go back" to believing in Santa, and rationalizing for him, because you want to. But thank you for the kind thoughts.

Used to be one of my favorite songs when I was married, and had faith, and thought that someone saying marriage vows meant something. This song came out when I was first engaged. Takes me back to all those delusional beliefs.
