The Religious Affiliation of Comic Book Characters The 99 a Muslim super-hero team

Young Arabs will soon be poring over a new group - and new genre - of superheroes like Jabbar, Mumita and Ramzi Razem, all aimed specifically at young Muslim readers and focusing on Muslim virtues. Mr. Mutawa's Teshkeel Media, based in Kuwait, says that in September it will begin publishing "The 99," a series of comic books based on superhero characters who battle injustice and fight evil, with each character personifying one of the 99 qualities that Muslims believe. But Mr. Mutawa is seeking to reach youngsters who are straddling the cultural divide between East and West.
In his flowing white robe and traditional Arab headdress, Mr. Mutawa looks every bit the Kuwaiti; when he opens his mouth.... Others, too, have seized on the opportunity for comics in the Middle East but not graphic representations of the principles of the Koran.
The characters in "The 99" are not all Arabs, but Muslims from all over the world. Jabbar, the enforcer, is a hulking figure from Saudi Arabia with the power to grow immense at a sneer; Mumita is a bombshell from Portugal with unparalleled agility and a degree of bloodlust; and Noora, from the United Arab Emirates, can read the truth in what people say and help them to see the truth in themselves. There is even a character who wears a burka, aptly called Batina, derived from the word meaning hidden.
In addition, "The 99" will piggyback on a distribution network Mr. Mutawa is setting up for a parallel project, publishing all manner of other comics in the region. Teshkeel has signed on with Marvel Comics to translate and distribute their comics in the Middle East, and will soon begin publishing Arabic versions of Marvel's Spider-Man, Incredible Hulk, X-Men and others. He said he is in talks with Archie and DC Comics for similar deals. He says that Teshkeel has attracted $7 million from investors, based on the promise that he will turn his company into the largest comics publisher in the Middle East.
Last year, Teshkeel also bought Cracked, a defunct competitor of Mad magazine, which he plans to resume publishing in February pitched to a more mature audience in the United States. He hopes those publications will encourage other media companies to take him more seriously and back his Muslim superheroes concept.

No higher an authority than President Obama praised the work of the comic's creator, Kuwaiti psychologist Naif al-Mustawa. At an April meeting with Arab entrepreneurs, Obama said, "His superheroes embody the teachings of the tolerance of Islam."

@flamebroil Never mind, I give up with you. Look, it's very simple, when you pay a bill that money eventually gets back to the bank!!! What do you think a mortgage is??? Money owed to a bank!!
No, instead they rip off the American citizen and take their house and everything else they own!!
My final thought is this, I feel very very sorry for my son and people who will not even take the time to see for themselves what's happening, or eventry to find out what the truth really is.

@freedom4kaz if we let the banks fail then you would have every to the banks and get there money out and not trust the banks and also maybe something that look like the great depression or maybe worst. when the government gave out money all it did was people paid bills and also save it for the rainy days that what people did they did not go out and buy new tv or a new car they just paid bills (gave money to the banks)

@freedom4kaz he did it to respect their faith when they do ask for more screening it would be a women. as a country we try make everyone okay with it. that because people spend on avg like 1.25 for every dollar they make. our country is set up in the way that you can spend your day on your butt and still get money for food. idk i think that stupid.

@flamebroil Challenge everything you're taught, do a fact finding mission, don't just buy into the ideas and thought process set forth by your professors. Why did the bail out go directly to the banks. Why didn't it go to the people? The money would of ended up in the banks hands anyway. The only difference would of been that people would of caught up on thier mortgages, bought new things, which would of jump started the economy! Think outside the box! Challenge everything! You're a smart person

Understand the fact that the top 5 percent of people make 90 percent of the top earnings in this country!! Why, because the system is set up that way!! I'm trying to motivate you into thinking outside of what the school books and gov't tells you!! They aren't going to teach or tell you those things. You are a smart person, think outside the box.

@flamebroil Do you also know he passed a law stating that Muslin women are exempt fromTSA screening and pat downs? What about Christians? Did you know that most military vets are put on the terror watch list after they come back from the Middle east wars? I suggest that you really need to wake up to the facts about this country. Do you realize people make the same amount of money on a yearly average as they did in WWII. You are a bright young person!! Perhaps researching the countries

@flamebroil Not a socialist, lets see, how bout health care, he wants to equalize wealth, he has signed more executive orders in the short time he's been in office than any other president, if you don't know what that is research it. Shall I go on? Also wrong about the 2nd Amendment. Our fore fathers set that up to protect citizens from a tyrannical gov't, in which he is running. Yes each state is to have it's own militia but the gov't over ran that process so no states would secede.

@freedom4kaz hint like the national guard one the border people. we don't need a full military like branch ruining around in the back yards because of the cauos it will cause to the avg people. They are not keeping you from your guns they are making it so that the people that want to do bad things with guns harder to get them. if you are a good person all it is a little more paper work DEAL WITH IT. you cant have it so that you can walk into walmart and buy a gun without any paper work.
