Thank you for enlightening the obvious idiotic general public who is always putting ADHD on the backdrop of Autism; although this lecture is highly informative; Dr. Barkleey is a brillant speaker; and know somewhere out there somebody would just like to beat the kid with ADHD; Not think again; the kid actually has a problem; so turned up by the people that always feel as though they can beat a disorder out of a kid;; shame on generation old school!

@BeYeaY He does NOT want to compare ADHD to autism at all. EXCEPT...to say that the label ADHD is not accurate in capturing what's wrong in the disorder. I have have struggled with ADHD all my life.

I strongly agree with Dr. Barkley that genetics have a substantial effects on one's self control, however, I believe he goes too far in claiming that social effects are irrelevant.

A common example in our society of social reasons for lack of self control is seen in the diets of obese individuals. Most know they should eat better but have difficulty in changing the habits and tastes that they developed from their upbringing.
