This is a longer video, but really amazing scenery!

I rode with a friend along the Eastern coastline of Biwako in Shiga-ken, about 73km each way. Some of the most beautiful and pure views I've had of Japan.

Please enjoy!

  • So one of the things that worried me about my intent to move to Japan next year was not having anywhere to take my road bike.

    Guess I was wrong O.O

    That's awesome. Cool vid.

I'd love to ride that road around the lake.

It all looked pretty smooth too.

Shit... it's better than anywhere I could ride here!

  • Thanks!

Yeah, don't worry, bring your bike, you will regret it if you don't! Even in the city, people ride and it's much easier to get around on a "real" bike than a "mamachari"! You can even take your bike on the train so if there aren't many trails near you, they are only a train ride away. :)

I brought mine from the U.S. so if you need any tips on bringing yours, when you're ready, just let me know!

  • Thanks! Awesome. I'll prob end up taking the train from Kobe to that lake. Shouldn't be too long.

How'd you get your bike over? I figured I'd take it apart and get another suitcase that would fit it all.

  • I actually packed it in a cardboard bike box and shipped it along with some winter clothes and misc. other stuff. I shipped it by air for really cheap. I used a company called "Nippon Express" and they offer shipping by sea and air. Air came out cheaper for me, and it's fast!

  • I forgot to add... If you can spare the room then definitely bring it in another bag or an airline bike bag (hard suitcase). I used all my allowable luggage space for clothes.

  • great shots i must say.

what is the name of the song btw? plz

  • thank you! it was an old mix i found so i wasn't sure, but sabrinasaures left a comment above with the info.
