Arnold joined the British because he considered the war to be over. Britain had offered the colonies self government and a perfectly reasonable peace treaty, yet the continental congress, still refused to end the war. Arnold considered them to be insane and thought they would lead both britain and the colonies to ruin with a disasterous alliance with france and a never ending war

washington state would have been called arnoldton had he remained loyal

Benedict Arnold was a rogue, smuggler and traitor to the crown. Other than that he was a decent bloke.

The actor playing Benedict Arnold should be walking with a limp. After he was shot in the leg at Saratoga Arnold walked with a limp during the rest of his life.

(continued) Everyone, even the British deserve praise for bravery and courage in the American Revolution. Though I do wish that the British would have used their talents in another war instead of fighting us Americans...

@Falwren. He is a hero. When he was fighting for us that is. I will never forget hearing about his exploits at Valcour Island, Quebec, Saratoga, and elsewhere. What courage! As for Washington, Adams, Franklin and Jefferson, well, that is your opinion and you are entitled to it. I will not argue the point with you. But I WOULD reccomend reading about them, they deserve praise for being courageous as well.

He speaks like a hero and a man who regained his honour. The real traitors were despicable pirates like Washington, Adams, Franklin and Jefferson.

He speaks like a traitor! Ha ha ! Blames his troubles on everyone else, and makes it seem villanious. The King that he now serves was the real traitor!!

Believe it or not but he is my grandothers, grandmothers, siste
rs cousin.
I respect everything Arnold did up until meeting up with John Andre. He took Ticonderoga, which provided the artillery we initially needed to even fight, and was wounded twice: trying invade Quebec, and leading the attack at Saratoga, turning the tide of the entire war. Too bad it was in the end that he felt unappreciated and let selfishness get the better of him. He'd probably be on a coin these days if he hadn't gone to the British side, lol
