ABOUT THIS VIDEO

Is this a Bird Strike???

This British Airways Boeing 777-200ER is on final approach, about to land on Runway 27L at London Heathrow Airport. As the plane flies closer, three birds can clearly be seen approaching the aircraft from the right. As the birds themselves get closer, they suddenly change direction towards the Trent 800 engine intake (as if sucked in). Moments later you can see what may be the birds coming out of the rear of the engine in a downward trajectory at high speed.

Having watched the video several times, it is difficult to say yes or no conclusively. At least one bird seems to go past the engine on the outside, but the others seem to go inside. On a larger screen, as the birds head downwards they definintely look as if they have been blown about a little.

Is it a bird strike? The plane engine is unharmed and the plane continues its appproach landing safely? It may or may not be but, I thought I'd share the video anyway for you to take a look at.

Watch the video closely and then comment with your own thoughts (sensible, non offensive comments only please!)

  • Nobody is scraming son just dont confuse it

  • @01261988733 YOU DON'T HAVE TO SCREAM!! xD

  • WATCH AGAIN THE BIRDS FLEW UNDER THE ENGINE NEVER INTO THE ENGINE OTHERWISE IMMEDIATELY THE ENGINE WOULD FLAME OUT AND THAT DIDNT HAPPENED

  • nope sorry its not and explaining it is easy, on the 777 if a average sized person were to stand in the engine nacelle and reach up they would be nowhere near to reaching the top of it, so if the engine really sucked them in those little "sparrows" or whatever they are would have to be the size of a small child

  • Should have gone to the terminal and asked the passengers!

Looks like sparrows though, little birds. Canadian geese I think it was which forced the ditching of US Airways 1549. They're like, big.

  • They flew under the wing, they were probably a fair distance away from the plane, closer to the camera. You can see the outline of one against the background of the engine cowling

  • I saw three birds enter the shot and three birds flying downward out of the shot. Not a birdstrike. The birds would not have come out of the other end in whole pieces and the engine possibly could have flamed out from the impact of those three birds creating some smoke.

  • very biutful

  • @fawaz973 how can you tell there alive

  • @Ext3ndedBurs how can you tell there alive?
